Engineering Notebook – 12/06/14

Goals:  

  • Add team number and plexiglass to sides
  • Make sure robot is labeled
  • Go over checklist
  • Review engineering notebook
  • Pack everything needed for the competition
  • Practice

Meeting Notes

  • Added the team number and Plexiglass to both sides and attached with screws
  • Labeled all areas needed on the robot
  • Went over Robot lnspection Checklist
  • Went over engineering notebook
  • Got everything needed and packed for competition
  • Problems:
    • Still having problems with the ramp
  • Next Time:
    • Discuss how the competition went, what went well and what didn’t.

Engineering Notebook – 12/05/14

Attendance:

Jacob, Tyler, Danielle, Mikayla, Joey

  

Goals:  

  • Correct programming problem with sweeper
  • Create a solution so the balls do not get past the sweeper and stuck under the robot
  • Troubleshoot chain coming off of the sprocket of the ramp

Meeting Notes

  • Jacob corrected the programming issue with the sweeper so it goes forward and back smoothly
  • Cut a small piece of sign material to attach to the each side of the direction guides on either side of sweeper so the balls do not get past it.
  • The chain was coming off the sprocket because of the hole where the sprocket was attached to the bucket kept getting bigger with use after use, also the chain was slighting too large so we had to move the server motor around to tighten the chain.
  • So the hole would not get any larger we put a washer on the screw to help stabilize it so it would not move back and forth as much making the hole larger.
  • Problems:
    • Still concerned about the strain on the servo and the chain and sprocket for drawbridge
  • Next Time:
    • Add team number and plexiglass to sides
    • Make sure the robot was labeled
    • Go over the complete checklist
    • Review engineering notebook
    • Pack up everything needed for the competition

Engineering Notebook – 12/04/14

Attendance:

Jacob, Tyler, Danielle

  

Goals:  

  • Design a ball director so the balls would not bounce out of the goals.
  • Practice driving and picking up the balls with the sweeper.

Meeting Notes

  • Created a ball director out of cardboard and duck tape was too heavy and needed to change to a lighter material, used plastic from a light sign material with duck tape. Put it back on the bucket and tested
  • Drove and attempted to pick up balls and put them in goals.
  • Problems:
    • The chain keeps coming off sprocket
    • The sweeper goes forward well but does not go backward properly something in the program
    • Balls are getting under the robot and getting stuck by getting past the bucket
    • The scissor lift sways a lot and need to be very careful when lifting to get it past the frame and wiring
  • Next Time:
    • Work on troubleshooting problems

Engineering Notebook – 12/03/14

Attendance:

Goals:  

  • Redesign ramp
  • Check all screws and nuts for any that may be loose
  • Attach ramp and test

Meeting Notes

  • Used chip box light cardboard for main section of ramp, attached servo and chain.
  • Checked all screw and nuts and added lock tight were necessary.
  • Attached ramp and tested, worked O.K.
  • Problems:
    • Will need to adjust settings in program for the low, middle and high goals, also need something to put at the end of the ramp that helps direct the balls so they don’t bounce off the top of goal.
  • Next Time:
    • Work on something to put on the front of ramp to direct the balls.

Engineering Notebook – 12/02/14

Attendance:

Goals:  

  • Complete wiring of the robot
  • Design ramp for balls
  • Continue working on autonomous program

Meeting Notes

  • Joey and Jacob completed wiring the robot.
  • Mikayla worked on the autonomous program with Jacob to complete the program for the robot to come down the ramp and turn.
  • Tyler and Danielle worked on designing the ramp and prototyping with cardboard, also tried to use siding material, also decided to use a servo motor and chain to open and close the ramp floor.
  • Problems:
    • The ramp is too heavy using the siding material for the servo motor to handle. Will need to try to lessen the weight of the drawbridge. Need a lighter material.
  • Next Time:
    • Try a lighter material for ramp.
